I would like to know the best pre schools in Clifton

I recently had a baby girl, I was just wondering about some pre schools in Karachi. I live in Clifton Block 2, so I would like to know the best pre schools in Clifton.

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl! Choosing the correct preschool can be a harrowing task in Karachi. There are a lot of really good preschools to choose from. Wikipedia has a list under preschools Karachi. Firstly narrow down your list by visiting web sites, talking to people who have already got school going children for their views and scheduling a few visits. Visit the school, ask if you can view the classrooms, check teacher student ratios and ask as many questions as you want regarding the school, its curriculum, and its policies. Please do not be intimidated and remember, this is your right as a parent. Choose a preschool for your child where you feel the most comfortable and reassured by the surroundings, staff and administration and lastly remember not to stress. Good Luck!

Both my kids attend WIS, which I think is an amazing school, although not too many people know about it but it has been there for 17 years. they are very exclusive, their classrooms have the latest in technologies, my son's comprehension has improved greatly since he started using all the interactive boards. my little one's teacher is a sweetheart and he has learned so much since he started school. i think it is worth checking out for all the new moms. good luck to u all!!

Hi, I have a 3.5 year old daughter, she is going to W.I.S and I feel it is a very good school, as the teaching method is all American and they emphasize a lot on conceptual learning. My daughter is very happy and the admin is very helpful, no ego issues here. It is also very technologically advanced so it is a good idea to visit it, for all the new parents looking for a school for their kids.

hi Durya, I am not surprised that you haven't heard much about WIS,they normally keep it very low key maybe because of the consulate children studying there, my daughter has a Malaysian kid in her class and she has picked up a few Malay words from him. I think it is good exposure for the children at that age. You should think about it very carefully, as many parents want a school with a big name for their child. I preferred the education and environment. It is totally your decision and you are the best judge of what your child needs, wish you all the best!

Hi, I must say that Pre-School Plus has done wonders to my son because the school had really worked on my son and had developed all the necessary skills , including sensorial , language, mathematical and cultural. My son would really look forward each day to go to the school. I love pre school plus because of excellent teachers, great administrative staff and the fact that it has bright-lit, spacious, well maintained class rooms. It is the perfect enviornment for a good pre-school . On the other hand I wouldnot suggest any of you to send your children to learning tree as I had a very bad experience with my first son. The school administration lacked a good attitude towards parents and also students, teachers were not co-operative, too much of redundant course work which in my opinion is not at all age appropriate, they have just kept all those AMERICAN books to show that they are also doing the 'IN' thing by keeping those LOOK BIG- hi-fi books, however the teachers and the administrative staff doesnt have a clue to what all those books that they have kept emphasize on!! The school doesnt beleive in working on concepts and if u being a parent suggest or complain .. the school very easily blames your child as a ' LEARNING DISABLED CHILD'. Most of all the class rooms are very congested, not properly lit and there is no element that I would say would rate this school anywhere to a proper GOOD school. I had to pull out my son as a result.

i have been going through all the queries dont u feel its a rat race going on?wat do u think a school will evaluate in a kid who is 1.5 or 2 yrs old?he/she is hardly speaking at that age n is exploring the world around him /her.Sorry to say but all u moms out there wat r u looking at when choosing a preschool or montessori for ur lil one?wel established name, high standards or a non responsive attitude regarding availability of seats?Mrs.Kashif u r very right that these names r fooling around with parents regarding the future of their child coz v dont even know as parents what a child at this age needs to develop(its only preprations for entrance tests that bothers us),if u read my comment Mrs.Kashif u can contact me at saplingspreschool@gmail.com or 0321-3407422 as v r following pure montessori method n striving for the implementation of montessori system just for the sake of 'education' for our children

Submitted by: Hina Ali on Saturday, August 13, 2011

viewing all the comments i totally agree with mrs. younus, it is a rat race... why dont you people consider homeschooling? a mother is the best teacher. we can easily prepare her for admission in any good school at home. the schools evaluate the child by taking a test and not ny checking out which 'branded' preschool he attended. my daughter will be 4 yrs old next month insha Allah and is being homeschooled. Alhumdulliah she is doing very well and i am very confident she can easliy get admission in any good school. i belive in letting the child learn at her own pace. why push the child? P.S i am not the hina ali who commented on the 10th of august and i am not a trained teacher, just a mom

I have been a regular follower of this forum thread and I find it very annoying that some 'sympathizer' of the so called 'Sheeba montessori' is constantly spamming this thread by posting under different aliases, attempting to promote it by one way or the other. So visitors please be aware !!! Dear 'Sheeba Montessori Promoter', by employing these cheap marketing techniques, you are doing more harm than good to your school. It's ok to leave a message or two, but leaving a regular trail of your publicity messages will indeed create a negative impression on whoever visits this site. So please grow up and exhibit a greater level of maturirty, realizing that you are now running a school!

Happy New Year to all.

Submitted by: M n M on Sunday, January 1, 2012

@ Mahwish Shiekh and 'anonymous', regarding child abuse case and Head Start based on the content listed in www.cspakistan.com site: First of all, this case should not be referred as 'Child Abuse' as merely slapping a child is NOT considered 'Child Abuse', as has been established by certain court rulings in the recent past. [Try Google for details] Secondly, only one side of the story has been disclosed in your ordeal. It never cited as to what caused the teacher to slap your child. Was his behavior unacceptable to the fellow children and whether all other methods of restraint and disciplining had been exhausted before the teacher resorted to slapping your child? Are there any other cases where the teacher used physical form of punishment on other students? I also have a kid going to preschool and I have explicitly specified to her school to take any necessary disciplinary action should she/he exhibit any unwanted or unacceptable behavior towards the teachers, fellow classmates or any other person for that matter, however, it should be to an extent so as not to cause any physical, emotional or psychological harm to my child. An occasional mild slap to help discipline the student should not be cause of much concern unless this form of punishment becomes a routine or any physical signs of harm become apparent.

Submitted by: mishQ on Thursday, January 5, 2012

@M n M I think it is beyond ridiculous that you think a three year old child can be held accountable for their behaviour or actions. You are an unfit parent if you allow other adults to take physical disciplinary action on your children.

Submitted by: mishQ on Thursday, January 5, 2012

To other concerned mothers, my friends niece attends a place called FootSteps. Its a new place but I was very impressed by their environment and staff. The lady running the place has been preparing children for nursery admissions in schools like kgs, cjm and cas, but now she's started her own playgroup. Its definitely worth a visit. They have a facebook link you can check out if that helps. http://www.facebook.com/pages/FootSteps/105319666216091

I would like to mention here that any kind of touch ,look or gesture which is dis respectful is an abuse. there are many other ways through which child learns what is right and wrong .best way is to be a good role model. All children should get due respect and positive guidance.

Plzzzzzzzzzzzz help me

Submitted by: M n M on Monday, January 9, 2012

@ MishQ I think you should take a closer look at yourself first .. lack in your parenting skills cost your child to be deemed 'unfit' (probably due to behavioural issues) for the school he was attending, forcing you to withdraw your kid from there and not having your security deposit returned and then you started crying about it by creating a website and then started posting in this forum under different names! Right from my childhood, I had always been taught to pay high regard to teachers and to give them as much respect as is given to the parents; And I belive teachers do have the right to discipline the child just like his/her parents, however, parents must make sure that all actions of the teachers are well-intentioned and are not intended to cause any physical abuse, harm or insult to their child. Merely slapping a child is NOT child abuse; technically it is referred to as 'corporal punishment', so claiming that your child has been 'abused' without offering the other side of the story is mere exxageration of the real facts!

@Bilal for inter view process what every school Just tries to evaluate is parents residence, education ,financial strength, profession and interest in getting the admission in that particular school and same becomes the criteria for selection too.

It's absolutely terrifying to read so many posters think a single 'mild' slap is acceptable. I have no idea about the circumstances surrounding the case - either of the child, parent, teacher or organisation. From a legal perspective, slapping someone is termed 'assault' and is a criminal offence. Why is slapping a child anywhere and for any reason any different? In the UK, it has been outlawed since 1986 and reviewed for abolition for decades before. Look at the Human Rights Act 1998 and the European Convention of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989. Please think - please don't think it should be normal or acceptable.

Little Hands preschool in block 5 Clifton,is the best preschool,Excellent in every way, friendly and encouraging administration and very hard working teachers.it's worth giving a try,you may have gone to many other preschools or at least called them and most of them must have discouraged you by saying your child has grown too old to be admitted in any school in karachi,I faced all that and today I am extremely thankful to Little hands administration and the staff for taking such good care of my child and for moulding her in such a way that she is in Roots today, the best education providing institute in Pakistan, thank u so much Little Hands, all the best.

Clearly someone who gave the list of 1. KGS 2. Origins was absolutely right. By far the best upcoming school in Karachi, origins headed by Naheed Japanwala is proving a delight for parents like us. Not only does it equip the students with learning activities, but the sports (Swimming Pool), and foreign language classes gives the children the same class of education as experienced in the UK. The no for Origins is 35878507

@ Omair Q: Please don't misguide ppl that Origins is among the leading ‘schools’ of Karachi. My own kid has been going to Origins for two years now, and I still remember to this day when I was interviewed by the same very principal and owner – Naheed Japanwala. I was astonished that instead of promoting her own school, how she was marketing Origins as a stepping stone towards getting admission to more sought-after schools. She said: “In our preschool, we prepare kids for all the good schools – KGS, CJM …”. Little did she realize that I was looking forward to Origins as a complete school and not just a fancy playgroup. Anyhow, I put my child in Origins because I had no better option at that time. The interview and my subsequent experience with the school has led me to believe that they seem more focused on promoting Origins as a preschool, rather than shaping it as a full-fledge school. I am a bit worried about my kid continuing to higher classes and consequently, these days I am looking for alternate schools. May be some day Origins joins the rank of the so-called leading schools of Karachi, but it surely has a long, long way to go before it can prove itself worthy enough for that place. Just to highlight that it generally takes decades for schools to build up their reputation.

I read about Young Learners Preschool which is in Clifton I registered my son at 1.8 in their play group. The three owners are trained from UK And USA plus they have a vast 20 years work experience at KGS Karachi. I truly love this school, my son has become so settled in this school. He has developed in all areas, his vocabulary has developed amazingly, he is confident, he sits and finishes his food, which he previously neverdid. He is singing lovely rhymes with actions. He now cleans up after playing with his toys. This is a great institution for young learners.

Many have discussed some good pre-schools here. Asma's Montessori is definitely up there and other notable names have been mentioned. My personal experience is with a school in Clifton, an up coming school called Rhodene Academy. www.facebook.com/RhodeneAcademy is there Facebook page and www.rhodene.edu.pk is their website. The school was established in 2007 by the person responsible for the success that was Bay View High School - Miss Shehnaaz. I'm delighted with the school and the progress my son in Reception Class has made in just a few months. If you want to go for traditional Pakistani attitude then go for a "big name" school. If you want to "educate" you child, then consider Rhodene Academy.

I have registered my child with LEARNING TREE and it's amazing. I would advice all NOT to enroll your loved ones with KIDS & CO! One of my best friends' son was enrolled with them and he turned aggressive and they spoiled his early development. They mistreated him and that made him scared and finally my friend decided to discontinue...he is doing very well now at his new place.

They have a vocabulary, they go happily to school and it is amazing how much they have learnt in a year. All learning is hands on, children are given the real experience through environment, play and experience. Hats off to the very well trained staff, who are thoroughly experienced. I really appreciate the care, love and attention paid to individual childs learning. Children systematically grow in all the areas, like language, social, physical and emotional growth. This school caters to the needs of children from ages 1.6 to 3 plus yrs. My child has learnt so well, such as organizing skills, good manners, thankyou and please. Sharing and taking turns. I've 3 children born in (Duaa in IX) 2nd Jan. 2000, (Omar in VII) 10th April 2001 & Aaira 29th Nov. 2011. My first two kids go to Foundation Public School (OLDC br.). My 3rd baby will be 2 in the end of Nov.'13. I now wear Hijab after my last baby & want my last baby girl to go to the best Islamic Eng. Med. Cambridge School in Clifton/ Defense as I reside near Clifton 3Talwar. I belong to Ahle Hadis / Wahabi school of thought so need a school like IRS (in India of Dr. Zakir Naik). Heard about reflection but it's in Korangi Creek, Nakhla belongs to Deo Band & Iqra is matric system. I don't want my this last child to be deprived. I don't want my other two older kids to make a mock of her in future (that Aaira is just Hafiz ul Quran & doesn't know Hi Fi Eng.) Since people are so God Damn Materialistic, we just assume that 2000 yards house in a posh area, branded cell/ shoes/ bags etc, nude clothes, latest model cars & Eng. are the only creteria to be 'KOOL & HOTT' & 'IN' in an Elite class. I wish I should have done it with my other 2 kids too but now they are well settled. I want to treat my 3 kids equally. I don't want Aaira to accuse me in future that Ma why on earth u made me a hafiza when nowadays being pious & religious is the top most crime/ sin. People humiliate & offend u coz of this. I don't find any reasonable Islamic School which is Eng. Med. yet has Cambridge System. I myself is from Habib Girls' School & St' Joseph College. I'm bewildered, puzzled & confused. Any lady assist me plz personally to my email id sumera_aijaz1978@hotmail.com as this is the 1st time i've seen this forum/ platform to express. I would highly appreciate ur sincere advice. & last but not the least, i'm no more a big shot after paying huge fee challan of FPS for my both kids from my Haq Halal income. This FPS fee has raised soo many heated arguments b/w me & my spouse so plz any reasonable Islamic Eng. Med. Cambridge System school of Ahle Hadis/ Wahabi school of thought would be preferred. Guidance plz. :)

Lecole has charged me Rs.79,000 that inculdes 3 months fees also, whereas Head start is charging Rs.104,000........ Also, I wanted a school for my child that continues till o and A Levels, so that I dont face the problem of switching schools and paying heavy admission amounts........ There is also a very very good school near bay view academy, that is Education Bay, u can also try there, they also teach Islamiat, Arabic and Quran there.......

@ Ambreen.. how is lecole's "Le pomme".. We have an interview over there . Curious to know since they dont have much of playgroup teaching experience..Would love to hear your experience sending your child there

Submitted by: Ambreen on Wednesday, February 12, 2014

@ Zafar: My son is going there at Lecole, so far my experience is good, I have coordinated with other parents as well who are sending their children to Lecole and found good experiences ...... Lecole has started its Les Pommes section 2 years back, and i think they have a good staff ....... i'm sitting with my son in his classroom, and found that other children there are very smart and intelligent, despite of the fact that they r very young, not more than 2 .5 years of age...... a boy in my son's class who just turned 2 , can say and understand words like Astronaut, Baker, Traffic policeman, caterpillar, that are quite difficult for a 2 year old kid ....... I think u should go for it ....... Rest, be a very interactive parent.... always ask everything from teacher (Huma for playgroup) and Corrdinator (Nabia Lakhani for Les Pommes), they should know that u r very concerned, and also keep in touch with other parents...... join facebook page of Lecole PYP........

Asalam alikum everyone, my son is 1.9 years old mashallah. He is my first born so I am clueless about where to go which school to choose or whom to ask. I went to national Montessori, the city school and head start. Now I will go to asma and casa de bambini tomorrow inshallah. We got admission in first 3 but I am not so much confused I want opinions and guidance from other parents who have first hand experience. I want him to get admission in KGS later on. One more thing pls let me know about national Montessori and Springfield school as I have never heard of them before. I will really appreciate thanks all

@ Anonymous - Although my daughter is studying at KGS, I have heard all praises by my relatives, colleagues and friends who have had their children admitted at The Learning Tree (TLT). So, based on the praises I've heard, I would suggest TLT.

hey my daughter got into bayview academy for aug 2014 but im not interested in BVA personally, i prefer KGS or CJM and i believe BVA is too expensive if i want my daughter there for only a year its not worth it! she also got into samrahi and im thinking of putting her there but its too far so i need some montessori that would take my daughter now i know im too late but a good montessori so my daughter can end up in KGS or CJM. im also providing her with home montessori myself exclusively for her only. she's very smart mashAllah and proved it at BVAs admission test besides her being the youngest even in the youngest lot shes an april born! please someone help me where to put her near by i live in defence?? hows whizkids compared to samrahi?

Submitted by: Ambreen on Wednesday, March 12, 2014

@ Zainab: Whizz kids is a perfect choice for ur child........ Also try for Pre-School Plus, DA montessori, Origins, Mrs. Haque's nursery, L'ecole and Links...... My son is going to L'ecole playgroup at DHA phase 8....... and so far he is going good and fees is reasonable too as compared to BVA..... This school continues till Graduation and is an affiliated center of University of London!! Getting a degree from London university is an awsome option ........ Do go and check out for urself...... or else u can try Education Bay next to BVA in Phase 8........ Its a good school with Islamic education as well ........

i visited samrahi montessori, and found teaching standard there is very good, specially the classes are huge with lots of stuff for childrens to learn. teachers are very friendly and taking care of each individual child. so i prefer Samrahi.

My Son goes to Young Learners Pre school. This is the wisest decisions I have taken. He is very happy in school, has made friends,he loves his teachers. The staff is very kind, professional and very caring. My son loves their learning environment. The school feels like you are in a real world for kids. Clean, bright, organized. Must go take a look!

This is very true! my daughter went to Young Learners Preschool and now she is in KGS Nursery. The school is run by three ex KGS teachers and they have a wealth of experience. My daughter gained immense confidence and good learning style when she was at Young Learners Preschool. She is socially very well adjusted and is organized.I have just registered my 2nd daughter in Young Learners for August session

I am looking for a preschool for my 1.9 year old son. I have moved to Karachi from London.I have visited few schools which people had referred to, but they are elementary schools and high schools. In London a small school environment is most popular for such young children, because these children get one to one attention and they develop lot of attention, by law Elementary schools don't have play group or pre nursery, mainly because small children feel very insecure in big setting. schools. I was dis appointed to see 25 small children in one of the class. Can people help me to go to a Small Pre School only Thanks

Submitted by: Rana Khan on Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Hi Sajeela. I absolutely agree with you and can understand the importance of small children of play group age going to a small preschool. I have two daughters they both went to Young Learners pre school. It is a real joy to see my girls progressing each day! it is a small environment and the owners are 3 very well experienced teachers of Karachi Grammar School. Believe me there are only 10 children in each class and 2 teachers, there is so much of personal attention. Very stimulating learning environment, amazing Play and Learn curriculum, my daughters have developed amazing skills of forming a line, pushing in their chairs, asking questions and love for looking at story books. Yes the reason why people are enrolling in main stream schools because they think they will save the registration fee, by once sending the child to a big school. Big schools are trying to be greedy and ignore the fact that small children need to go to a small school with not more than 10 children in a class. Some of the parents who took out their child to put them in a big school are really regretting now. You can check out this school by logging on to their face book page, type in Young Learners Preschool or call at 03008245799. I am not sure of the cell number but you can send them a message on their face book page. I hope you find this place most suitable for your child.

Hi I am also from Young Learners Preschool. Great school! very happy and good learning environment. The 2 Directness themselves take the classes very experienced, pleasant and will prepare your child for future learning, and not just for and one known school. Go for Young Learners Preschool in Clifton. But check if registration and admissions still open.
